Kissing the altar and then turning to the congregation, with voice slightly raised, the Priest says "Orate, fratres..." ("Pray Brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may become acceptable...").
The Master of Ceremonies, on behalf of all the faithful, responds with "Suscipiat Dominus..." ("May the Lord accept the Sacrifice at your hands...") to which the Priest responds "Amen".
Returning to the altar the Priest says the Secret Prayer(s) silently. These prayers are taken from the Proper of Mass of the day.
The Priest raises his voice slightly at the end of the final prayer saying the words "... per omnia saecula saeculorum" ("... world without end"). The faithful signify their agreement by responding "Amen".
