The Mass has ended, but the Priest begins his thanksgiving by announcing a final Gospel reading (which is said rather than sung). With occasional exceptions, the Last Gospel is John 1, verses 1-14. Both the Priest and people kneel at the words "Et Verbum caro factum est" ("And the Word was made flesh").
