The Consecration of the Host

QUI pridie quam pateretur, accepit panem in sanctas ac venerabiles manus suas, et elevatis oculis in coelum ad te Deum Patrem suum omnipotentem, tibi gratias agens, The sign of the cross.benedixit, fregit, deditque discipulis suis, dicens: Accipite, et manducate ex hoc omnes.

Hoc est enim Corpus meum.

WHO, the day before He suffered, took bread into His holy and venerable hands, and having raised His eyes to heaven, to Thee, God, His Almighty Father, giving thanks to Thee, blessed The sign of the cross.it, broke it and gave it to His disciples saying: Take and eat ye all of this.

For this is my Body.

The priest genuflects to adore the Sacred Host; then reverently lifting It up he shows It to the people that they may in their turn may adore; he then places It back on the corporal and genuflects again.  At the moment of the Elevation the faithful look upon the Sacred Host with love and devotion and recite the ejaculation: "My Lord and My God".
