The Consecration of the Chalice

SIMILI modo postquam coenatum est, accipiens et hunc praeclarum Calicem in sanctas ac venerabiles manus suas:  item tibi gratias agens, The sign of the cross.benedixit, deditque discipulis suis, dicens:  Accipite, et bibite ex eo omnes.

Hic est enim Calix Sanguinis mei, novi et aeterni testamenti: mysterium fidei: qui pro vobis et pro multis effundetur in remissionem peccatorum.

Haec quotiescumque feceritis, in mei memoriam facietis.

IN like manner, after He had supped, taking also this excellent chalice into His holy and venerable hands, and giving thanks to Thee, He The sign of the cross.blessed it, and gave it to His disciples, saying:  Take and drink ye all of this.

For this is the Chalice of My Blood of the new and everlasting testament: the mystery of faith:  which for you and for many will be shed unto the remission of sins.

As often as you shall do these things, do them in memory of Me.

The priest genuflects to adore the Precious Blood; then reverently lifting it up the Chalice, he shows It to the people that they may in their turn may adore; he then places It back on the corporal and genuflects again.
