The Priest returns the Host to the altar, and making the sign of the cross with it as he places it on the corporal.
The Priest pours wine into the chalice. The Priest then pronounces the following prayer, making the sign of the cross over the cruet containing water (except in Masses of the Dead when the prayer is read without the blessing). The Priest then pours a small amount of water into the chalice :

The Priest raises the chalice to the level of his eyes and says the following prayer:

Handing the thurible back to the Deacon he says:

AY the Lord kindle
within us the fire of His love, and the flame of everlasting charity. Amen.
The celebrant is incensed, and after him the sacred ministers and servers, according to their rank, and finally the whole congregation. A bow is made before and after each incensing.
The Priest moves to the left-hand side of the altar and a server pours water over his fingers as the Priest says the words of Psalm 25, 6-12:

with the wicked, nor my life with bloodthirsty men. In whose hands are iniquities, their right hand is full of gifts. But
I have walked in my innocence: redeem me, and have mercy on me. My foot stands on level ground; in the churches I will bless

ECEIVE, most Holy
Trinity, this oblation which we are making to Thee in remembrance of the Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension of Our Lord Jesus
Christ, and in honour of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, Blessed John the Baptist, the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and of these (names of
the saints whose relics are in the altar), and
of all the Saints; that it may avail unto their honour and our salvation, and may they vouchsafe to intercede in heaven for us
who honour their memory here on earth. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
The Priest kisses the altar and turns towards the congregation for the last time until then end of the Canon and says:

The Priest elevates and joins his hands, looks towards Heaven, bows profoundly towards the altar and with hands extended begins the Canon (or rule of consecration) of the Mass. The Canon is said in a silent tone, audible only to the Priest himself, out of the most profound reverence for the wonderful event which is about to take place.

Domino pro omnibus quae retribuit mihi? Calicem salutaris accipiam, et nomen Domini invoacbo. Laudans invocabo Dominum, et ab

HAT return shall I
render unto the Lord for all He has given me? I will take the chalice of salvation, and I will call upon the Name of the Lord.
Praising I will call upon the Lord, and I shall be saved from all my enemies.
The Priest takes the Chalice in his right hand, makes the sign of the cross with it and says:
ANGUIS Domini
nostri Jesu Christi custiodiat animam meam in vitam aeternam. Amen.
HE Blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ preserve my soul to life everlasting. Amen.
The Priest receives the Previous Blood.
If there are communicants, then the deacon at High Mass (or at Low Mass the server) says the Confiteor:
ONFITEOR Deo
omnipotenti, beatae Mariae semper Virgini, beato Michaeli Archangelo, beato Joanni Baptistae, sanctis Apostolis Petro et Paulo,
omnibus Sanctis, et tibi, pater, quia peccavi nimis cogitatione verbo, et opere: (Percutit sibi pectus ter,
dicens) mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Ideo precor beatam Mariam semper Virginem, beatum Michaelem Archangelum,
beatum Joannem Baptistam, sanctos Apostolos Petrum et Paulum, omnes Sanctos, et te, pater, orare pro me ad Dominum Deum nostrum.
CONFESS to Almighty
God, to Blessed Mary ever Virgin, to Blessed Michael the Archangel, to Blessed John the Baptist, to the Holy Apostles Peter and
Paul, to all the angels and Saints, and to you, Father, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word and deed: (He
strikes is breast three times) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I beseech
the Blessed Mary ever Virgin, Blessed Michael the Archangel, Blessed John the Baptist, the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, all the
Saints, and you, Father, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
The Priest pronounces the words of absolution:
Misereatur vestri omnipotens Deus, et dimissis peccatis vestris, perducat vos ad vitam aeternam.
R. Amen.
Almighty God have mercy on you, and forgiving you your sins, bring you to life everlasting.
R. Amen.
All present make the sign of the cross while the Priest says:
Indulgentiam,
absolutionem,
et remissionem peccatorum vestorum, tribuat vobis omnipotens et misericors Dominus.
R. Amen.
May the almighty and merciful Lord grant you pardon,
absolution,
and remission of your sins.
R. Amen.
Genuflecting and then turning to the congregation while holding up one of the Hosts the Priest says:
CCE Agnus Dei, ecce
qui tollit peccata mundi.
EHOLD the Lamb of
God, behold Him who takes away the sins of the world.
The Priest says the following prayer three times; the faithful strike their breast each time:
OMINE, non sum
dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur anima mea.
ORD, I am not
worthy that Thou should enter under my roof; say but the word and my soul shall be healed.
The faithful come to the altar rail and the Priest administers Holy Communion to each person with the words:
ORPUS Domini nostri
Jesu Christi custodiat animam tuam in vitam aeternam. Amen.
HE Body of our Lord
Jesus Christ preserve thy soul unto everlasting life. Amen.
(The communicant does not respond with "Amen".)
While the Subdeacon (or server) pours wine into the Chalice the Priest says:
UOD ore sumpisimus,
Domine, pura mente capiamus, et de munere temporali fiat nobis remedium sempiternum.
RANT, O Lord, that
what we have taken with our mouth, we may receive with a pure mind; and from a temporal gift may it become to us an eternal
remedy.
The server pours water and wine over the fingers of the priest, into the chalice, who dries his fingers with the purificator cloth, and says, silently:
ORPUS tuum, Domine,
quod sumpsi, et Sanguis, quem potavi, adhaereat visceribus meis: et praesta; ut in me non remaneat scelerum macula, quem pura et
sancta refecerunt Sacramenta. Qui vivis et regnas in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
AY Thy Body, O
Lord, which I have received, and Thy Blood which I have drunk, cling to my inmost being; and grant that no stain of sin may
remain in me, who has been fed with this pure and holy Sacrament; Who live reign, world without end. Amen.
The Priest reads the Communion Antiphon from the Proper Mass of the day.
V. Dominus vobiscum.
R. Et cum spiritu tuo.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with thy spirit.
The Priest then reads the Postcommunion prayer according to the Proper of the Mass of the day. The Prayer ends with the words:
... Per omnia saecula saeculorum.
R. Amen.
V. ... World without end.
R. Amen.
The priest then goes to the middle of the altar, kisses it and says:
V. Dominus vobiscum.
R. Et cum spiritu tuo.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with thy spirit.
At High Mass the Deacon sings, or at Low Mass the Priest says:
V. Ite Missa est.
R. Deo gratias.
V. Go, the Mass is ended.

Bowing down before the Altar, with hands joined upon it, the Priest says:
LACEAT tibi, sancta
Trinitas, obsequium servitutis meae: et praesta, ut sacrificium quod oculis tuae majestatis indignus obtuli, tibi sit
acceptabile, mihique, et omnibus proquibus illud obtuli, sit te miserante propitiabile. Per Christum Dominum nostrum.

AY the performance
of my homage be pleasing to Thee, most Holy Trinity: and grant that the Sacrifice which I, though unworthy, have offered up in
the sight of Thy Majesty, may be acceptable to Thee, and through Thy mercy, be a propitiation for me and for all whom I have
offered it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Priest kisses the altar and, except in Masses for the dead, gives the congregation his blessing:

The Priest goes to the Gospel side of the altar and reads the beginning of the Gospel according to Saint John, or on certain days, the Gospel of the commemorated feast or feria. The Server and the congregation stand and sign themselves, like the Priest, on the forehead, lips and breast.

N the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by
Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light
shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The
same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but
was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the
world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto his own, and his
own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (Genuflect
while saying) AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, the glory as of the Only begotten of

At Low Mass the Preist kneels on the the altar steps and says the following prayers prescribed by Leo XIII (1884), and by Pius XI (1934) for the conversion of Russia (10 years' indulgence). Masses of a solemn character are exempt from this rule (Decree of 20 June 1913):
VE Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
R. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
AIL Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with
thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
R. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Ave Maria is said three times.

prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of our holy Mother the Church. Through the same

OLY Michael archangel, defend us in the
day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do
thou, prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust down to hell Satan and all wicked spirits, who wander through the
world for the ruin of souls.

The following invocation, repeated three times, was added in 1904 by Pope Saint Pius X (7 years and 7 quarantines):
