The Society's activities in North Wales have their origins from the 1980s, when a group of 12-15 Catholics discovered that a retired Jesuit priest, Father Buckley, still celebrated the Tridentine Mass at the nursing home where he lived.
Through contact with the Society's House in Preston, priests began to make the journey once a month, on a Tuesday evening, to celebrate Mass and administer the Sacraments in the basement of private house. As the congregation grew, a Sunday Mass was arranged at the Mount Stewart Hotel.
In 2000, a small Methodist chapel just outside Rhos-on-Sea became available for sale. The chapel had been built around 1809, and it was reputedly the oldest Methodist chapel in North Wales. The sale was completed with the assistance of members of the congregation and the building converted to traditional Catholic worship.
