Final Prayer and Blessing

The Priest bows towards the altar for the prayer " Placeat tibi " ("May the homage of my bounded duty be pleasing to Thee...") and then kisses the altar.

Except during Masses for the Dead, the Priest then pronounces a final blessing " Benedicat vos omnipotens... " ("May almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.") to which the people reply "Amen."
